Digital Media Specialist
at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania
Allegheny College invites applications for Digital Media Specialist in the Office of Admissions. This position will primarily serve as Allegheny’s online “storyteller” through multimedia production, including video, web content and design, and social media. The Digital Media Specialist will serve as a brand champion and contributor of both the enrollment marketing and campus digital communication teams.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: conceptualizing, creating and editing video to engage prospective students, alumni and other audiences; creating and managing copy, images and other supporting graphics for the college’s family of websites; encouraging and facilitating the creation of user-generated web content; capturing photography for multimedia use; and, staying current with all emerging technologies, best practices and web standards.
The ideal candidate has significant experience with both video/audio production and content management systems such as WordPress, including knowledge of standards such as XHTML and CSS. If possible, this position’s work load will be allocated evenly between these two distinct digital services.
The candidate’s video experience should include filming/recording, editing and distributing online, with familiarity of non-linear editing systems such as Final Cut Pro. Web experience should include digital photography, Adobe’s Creative Suite, and creating content for social media sites. We seek creative candidates with excellent written and oral communication skills who can contribute to a successful marketing team while managing multiple projects. A bachelor’s degree is required and at least two years relevant experience is preferred.
