A key member of the College Communications team, the Director of Electronic Communications is responsible for coordinating and managing the online Davidson experience through Davidson's web sites, e-mail marketing programs, and through social media in order to increase understanding of and support for the college among external and internal constituents, including prospective students, alumni, parents and friends.

Essential Functions Develop and implement an effective and forward-looking electronic communications strategy that integrates with and supports the college's other communication initiatives.

Ensure the implementation of web standards and policies that support college graphic standards and style manuals, maintaining the Davidson brand throughout the site.

Coordinate Davidson's email and social networking efforts.

Oversee Davidson's web design and development of multimedia content. Supervise a Web Designer and Multimedia Producer.

Maintain homepage and second-level pages in the Davidson Web Site, shaping the Davidson message for primary audiences, and overseeing updates and interactivity as needed. In collaboration with College Relations and Admissions, develop strategic communication within these sites.

Work collaboratively with people across campus to develop, organize, and enhance departmental web content. In particular, assist with the development of Davidson\'s intranets by helping academic and administrative departments develop and structure content for separate internal and external audiences.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least 4-5 years of relevant experience with Internet communications as a communications and marketing tool, preferably in a higher education setting. Previous experience managing an organization's Web site built with an enterprise content management system is essential; experience with Sharepoint and Ingeniux are desired, as is experience with testing/validation and wireframing, and experience deploying Web content to mobile devices.

Must have a strong understanding of user-centered design principles and potential of Web technologies and applications is essential, as is knowledge of XML, HTML, CSS, Java Scripting, and Action Scripting. Thorough knowledge of HTML, HTML5, DHTML, XML, XSLT, and CSS. Experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver required, as well as proficiency around a range of codes and working knowledge of encoding standards for optimal online delivery of multimedia content.
