Web Designer
at Philadelphia University in Philadelphia
Reporting to the Director of Web Communications, the university’s Web Designer would possess at least 3-5 years of demonstrated web design experience. Responsible for design and maintenance of the university's website, the successful candidate must possess: 1) fluency in current graphic design practices and web production software, including the Adobe suite of products, particularly Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver; 2) understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Flash; 3) equal proficiency with Mac and PC operating systems, software and hardware; 4) an aptitude to evaluate new and emerging technologies, and make recommendations for improvements to the website; 5) experience with Microsoft SharePoint Designer, .asp and a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products a plus; 6) some knowledge of content management systems. The ability to write well, effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure is expected. Candidate will also assist senior members of the Public Relations department with daily tasks as assigned, including, but not limited to, print design and occasional proofreading and/or copywriting.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a design or related field.
The primary role of this position is to implement new designs for the university website while working in collaboration with third parties on the brand identity of Philadelphia University as reflected in its endeavors on the web.
