The School of Nursing seeks an experienced Web Developer. The successful candidate will join our group of talented marketing and communications professionals and contribute to one of the nation’s best and largest schools of nursing. Learn about marketing and communications trends and best practices within higher education and health care. Utilize your code skills by contributing to our web site and e-marketing campaigns. This Web Developer will assist our Director of Web Development and e-Communications and be part of a redesign effort that will incorporate a CMS.
Essential functions:
Assists Director, Web Development and e-Communications with website development, design, and maintenance
Helps with the development of graphics and layouts based on knowledge of current web usability principles and esthetic design concepts
Experience handling technical aspect of the web, including hand-coding XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and an ability to use industry-standard software, including Adobe Create Suite
Familiarity with content management systems, Flash Action Scripts, databases, and object-oriented programming
Ability to effectively and efficiently create esthetically pleasing web content using ADA and Web Standards compliant web sites
Interest working within a Content Management Systems (CMS)
Ability to work independently on projects as well as collaboratively with a group
Provides excellent customer service to all levels of users and encourage timeliness and accuracy of web page information and resolution of problems
Excellent writing and communication skills
Operates within a cross-functional team
May train other staff
Minimum Qualifications:
· 4 years appropriate education
· Experience in creative talents
· Strong desire to learn and work on web projects.
· Some web programming experience desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
BASELINE
Provide support to Director, Web Development and e-Communications
Ability to collaborate with clients and/or other member of the Communications team
Ability to learn contemporary web development tools, database structures, and programming
Ability to understand web application development, web design techniques, and web data collection procedures
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to keep current with emerging software and programming technologies/techniques
Programming skills in appropriate industry standard 3rd and 4th Generation Languages and Tool Sets
INTERMEDIATE
Knowledge of existing campus-defined systems, applications, and standards
Knowledge of database design concepts and network operating systems
Familiarity with technologies and website applications
Ability to perform systems and applications needs analysis
Ability to develop application implementation plans, install software, and apply fixes
Ability to support users and assist them in the use of web tool and technologies
ADVANCED
Provide mentoring to those with less knowledge of web design and development
Knowledge of sophisticated web technologies and database engine characteristics, structures, and programming tools
Knowledge of system/equipment capability, design restrictions, and security requirements
Ability to integrate all systems including operating systems, applications, networks, and databases, as well as knowledge of distributed processing technology
Ability to apply consultative skills to assess and evaluate user needs and communicate technology alternatives and solutions
Ability to identify hardware/software interface problems
