full time Web Developer

at Emmanuel College in Boston

The Web Developer's primary responsibility will be to support the external Emmanuel College web site (www.emmanuel.edu) and the development of electronic communications. They are also responsible for providing support as needed on the internal SharePoint Portal and other development projects. This will include, but is not limited to: web development and maintenance, mobile site development, database integration with web forms, training users on the College's Ingeniux Content Management System (CMS), and development of tools, features and page templates to enhance the functionality, navigation and programming of the web site.

Must be able to plan, develop, and execute a concept from start to finish, have strong interpersonal communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team that bridges two offices: The Office of Information Technology and the Office of Marketing Communications. Must be highly motivated and capable of keeping current with emerging applications and technologies. Must have working knowledge of industry standard web development programs, social networking tools, operating systems, software, and hardware and be able to identify, research, and recommend software and hardware for use in producing multimedia products. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required skills include:

• Strong working knowledge and proficiency developing with ASP.NET, PHP, XML, XHTML, CSS, AJAX and JavaScript.

• Experience in developing on the Microsoft SharePoint Platform (MOSS 2007/WSS 3.0).

• Experience developing database driven web-applications (familiarity with MS SQL, MySQL, etc).

• Previous experience with Ingeniux or other CMS preferred.

• Demonstrated experience with customization and web development using open source systems. (WordPress, Drupal, Sakai, Plone, etc.).

• Working knowledge of both Apple Mac and PC equipment and software.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least three years of relevant web development experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
