full time Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications

Stevens Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications. Reporting to/working for the Director of Publications, the Assistant Director will be responsible for supporting and developing, with the Director, both strategic plans and operational goals of the Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions Office. The tasks to achieve these goals include:

  • Identifying key audiences and developing the most appropriate means of communicating with them about the university
  • Supporting the Director in creating all printed promotional marketing materials
  • Maintaining portions of the Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions websites
  • Work with IT department to develop and launch new Web sites and initiatives in content management system
  • Creating marketing initiatives for new academic programs
  • Conduct market research and incorporate findings into future marketing efforts
  • Help develop and implement the overall e-mail, marketing and communication campaign of the admissions departments
  • Writing and deploying e-mail blasts
  • Managing student blog program
  • Proofreading letters and publications

This is a position of great importance to the Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions offices. Candidates should have: creativity, high energy, good communication skills, some marketing experience, and the ability to multitask. Work experience in an academic environment or in a business environment is highly desired. Knowledge of Web site design and communication principles strongly desired. Interest in keeping up with current and best practices in Web communications a must. All interested candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as media relations, English, marketing or communications. Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite, and Dreamweaver a significant plus.
