Vassar College is seeking an experienced, full-time web designer to join our Web Development group. For more information about our group, we invite you to visit us at http://collegerelations.vassar.edu/webdesigner.
As a member of the web development group in the college's communications office, the web designer is responsible for graphic design, development, implementation, and maintenance of all Vassar's websites, in close collaboration with web and other colleagues.
Applicants must have a minimum of three years of professional web design experience handling both graphic design and technical aspects. Must give evidence via an online portfolio of excellent visual design ability, and a strong understanding of typography, especially for web use. Must be fluent in designing and coding for accessibility and user experience. Graphic design skills will include mastery of standard software such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Technical skills will include a thorough understanding of web standards and proficiency in hand-coding XHTML and CSS. Familiarity with content management systems, Javascript, Flash/Actionscript, XSL and/or PHP is a plus. Bachelor's degree preferred.
