Web Administrator
at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, IN (near Louisville, KY)
IU Southeast is one of eight campuses of Indiana University, located in New Albany, Indiana, which is ten minutes from downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Our campus is growing, our web pages are winning awards and garnering national attention, and we are looking for another member of our web team who can help us excel in all we do.
Serve as senior administrator for all web-based services. Collaborate with designers and others as a part of the IU Southeast web production team in creation of campus websites and web services. Design, write, develop, debug, install, modify, configure and maintain software to support web-based systems. Reports to Director of IT-Media & Web Services. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in computer science or related field or equivalent training and experience. (Certification a plus).
• 2 or more years of experience in installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting web and application servers such as Windows 2003/Microsoft IIS 6.0, SQL server 2000 and Adobe ColdFusion MX7 (MX8 a plus ).
• Technical proficiency developing applications in a web environment using XHTML/CSS,, Cold Fusion MX7 (CF 8 preferred), and JavaScript. Experience with content management systems.
• Evidence of the ability to write stored procedures and complex queries in order to create efficient and logical databases for web applications.
• Demonstrated work history of creating automated scripts to increase productivity and efficiency.
• Demonstrated work experience with Microsoft SQL server 2000, including DTS (development and scheduling) and Stored Procedures. Experience with Oracle and MySQL is a plus.
• Solid technical understanding and experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP, SSL, DNS, etc.
• Evidence of experience coding for various web browsers (for Mac and Windows platforms) a plus, including Microsoft Internet Explorer 6/7, Mozilla, and Safari.
• Evidence of using web site tracking tools, such as Google Analytics, Web Trends, etc. to generate reports and analyze site traffic patterns and usage.
• Technical knowledge of Active Directory Authentication and its integration into web applications.
• Strong communication, people skills, and the ability to work with users at all levels
• Ability to lift 10 pounds
• Proven orientation toward quality service

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as web administrator on the campus web development team. This includes, but is not limited to, Internet and intranet services. Ensure pages are correctly coded, oversee the content management system, automate manual processes, and integrate database and application software into web designs in order to increase site effectiveness.
Analyze systems. Design, write, develop, debug, install, modify, configure, and maintain software in support of web-based services. Work with IT-Systems & Operations to install, configure, and maintain hardware in support of web-based services. Work with the Network Administrator regarding the use of network protocols such as DHCP and SMTP.
Influence structure of new web pages to maximize accessibility, usability and effectiveness; maximize users’ ability to search site content.
Work closely with the Director of IT-Media & Web Services and the IT-Systems & Operations team to develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures regarding usage, access, and administration of campus web site; maintain appropriate security; support and coordinate with Director to serve as campus consultant and authority regarding world wide web issues; educate campus regarding world wide web potentials and limitations including database functionality.
Serve as a user contact and consultant to answer questions, interpret technical information, identify needs, provide information, education and technical services, troubleshoot, and make referrals to other technical resource persons, including the Director of IT-Media & Web Services and the web team. Serve as liaison between local web services users and system-wide and external providers to process request and coordinate systems.
Coordinate with Media Services staff in order to instruct users in hardware/software usage to include, but not limited to, serving as instructor for local training programs, and developing documentation and training materials.
Advance and maintain personal knowledge of locally utilized hardware/software as well as industry hardware/software technologies.
Maintain web hardware and software security and operate facilities in accordance with copyright laws and licensing agreements.
Establish and maintain vendor contacts for production information and technical support.
Supervise work activities of student programming assistants, to include participation in hiring, training, and assigning work.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
