Position Description:
Georgia Tech Communications & Marketing provides professional communications and marketing services for campus clients in the areas of Web design/development/management, marketing and communications planning, market research, brand management, public relations, creative design services, campaign communications, internal communications, event planning, and licensing management.
Major Responsibilities to Include:
The Senior Web Developer:
o Serves as the lead on client- and Institute-level projects
o Designs, develops, and implements comprehensive online communications products
o Develops and implements social media initiatives, and acts as a resource to campus developers in this arena
o Develops and implements site statistics and metrics practices at the Institute level
o Researches and evaluates emerging technologies, and offers recommendations for ways to leverage those technologies
o Develops guidelines and standards for online communications, and works directly with campus communicators and developers to ensure that these standards are being followed
o Estimates project production details and scope for Institute Web initiatives, and produces project documents when necessary
o Directs and informally supervises campus Web Developers\' projects on an ongoing basis
Education:
Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
A minimum of 6+ years job related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred skills and experience include the following:
o Computer-related experience to consist of knowledge of Web technologies including, but not limited to, Web servers and browser technology, network connectivity, content management (e.g. Drupal), and content syndication (e.g. RSS)
o Experience with HTML/XML, XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, JSP, Flash, Photoshop, and UNIX
o Demonstrated proficiency with comprehensive database design, development, and integration with Web development of dynamic, multimedia Web content
o Experience with strategic use of social media and Web 2.0 (and beyond) technologies
o Experience with information design and marketing development
