College of Notre Dame of Maryland is currently seeking a Director of Public Affairs. The Director will work with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the Director of Marketing to determine media coverage priorities for the College. This position will manage day-to-day public relations activities as well as provide strategic public relations council. The Director will develop and maintain print, broadcast and web-based media databases (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.). This position also drafts all media materials for the College, provides media training to prepare faculty and senior administrators for media interviews, and acts as the principal media contact and escort on campus.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s or masters degree in public relations, communications, journalism or a related field. Candidates should have 8-10 years of previous public relations account management experience at the local/regional level. Experience with academia preferred. Candidates need solid writing skills, a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage multiple institutional activities at once. Strong comfort level with social media and digital/online media placement and tracking is essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
