full time Multimedia Communications Specialist

Birmingham-Southern College has an immediate opening in its Office of Communications. Primary responsibilities include creating positive awareness and understanding about the college and maintaining and enhancing its reputation among internal and external audiences by providing communications, marketing, public relations, media relations, publications writing and design, web management, social media, and videography/photography services for the college. A bachelor’s degree is required; degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field preferred. A minimum of five years’ experience in communications or related field is preferred.

Must possess excellent photography and videography skills; experience editing and posting videos to YouTube; demonstrated success with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and emerging online communities; excellent time management skills; strong computer skills; and self-motivation. Experience with PC-based and Mac computers required. Knowledge and experience using InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, and Dreamweaver software programs preferred. Basic understanding of HTML and website architecture and experience with developing HTML emails and using mass email delivery systems such as Fire Engine Red desired.
