Web Communications Specialist

Today the College of Dentistry is seeking a Web Communications Specialist!
Reporting to the assistant dean for communications and public affairs, the Web Communications Specialist will develop and project a unified, consistent voice for all aspects of the organization's online presence; recommend new website navigational structure and changes to site layout and content based on institutional priorities; work with content owners to develop and maintain systems and a calendar for the removal of out of date content and the creation/acquisition of new updated content, including writing, editing, and proofreading content; develop and provide content for website visitors to the NYUCD; gather and research information that enhances the value of the site; create and manage online activities and services for advertising, direct marketing, and public relations.
Qualifications/Required Education: Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, public relations or a related area.
Preferred Education: Master's degree in English, journalism, graphic design, communications, public relations preferred.
Required Experience: Minimum five years related experience or an equivalent combination. Must have experience with design, development, and creation of content for web pages. Experience in using content management systems (CMS). Using web metrics and assessment tools to optimize website. General web usability standards and best practices. Ability to optimize images for web usage (e.g., crop, color correct, resize, etc.) Skilled in basic web technologies required to manage websites (e.g., ability to adjust HTML and CSS, etc.) at a level typical for a web content position. Ability to utilize and promote best practices for a SEO-friendly content.
Preferred Experience: Background in healthcare sciences education or administration, strongly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal. Ability to develop and manage institutional social media presences and to interact with community members on social media platforms. Ability to collaborate, work independently, meet deadlines, work on multiple projects simultaneously, and quickly shift gears as circumstances dictate.
