Online Communications Manager
at Keene State College in New Hampshire
Keene State College, Marketing and Communications Office invites applications for an Online Communications Manager. The office is responsible for creating and implementing the College's web strategy as well as maintaining internal and external electronic/online channels and developing content, tools and services for keene.edu and related sites. The Manager's role spans all aspects of a project from inception to completion, including initial brainstorming to final deployment and ongoing maintenance.
The Online Communications Manager collaborates with the Marketing and Communications Team and senior staff to establish and implement web policies and standards (including brand and identity standards), and recommends new web tools and approaches to support the college's strategic objectives.
Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Manager creates and leads the implementation of a comprehensive web strategy to support external communications and sets the overall direction for the web site. This position provides expert technical consultation, leadership, and project management for the continuing development and maintenance of KSC's web presence in support of recruitment, marketing, fund raising and community outreach activities.
Responsibilities include:
# Manage the complete redesign project and maintenance plan for the website
# Manage website and internal communications, develop policy and procedures, coordinate content updates and assisting college staff in the development of web materials
# In cooperation with Director and the College web team, develop and implement a comprehensive strategic web plan to accomplish the shift from an institution-centered to a user-centered web presence
# Plan and design the layout of new web pages and interactive web applications
# Serve as principal contact to web vendors and service providers
# Provide technical support to college staff
Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, marketing, or communications); combination of information technology and public relations experience equal to two years (4-7 years experience in information technology, design, development, and management of websites and web applications preferred); demonstrated Web development expertise, including JavaScript/AJAX, XHTML, CSS, XML, PHP, and Web Database technologies; expertise using CSS to separate content and presentation; understanding of user interface (UI) design, web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG), and web standards (W3C); ability to learn quickly and integrate new technologies; desire to work in a fast-paced environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: Familiarity with video and rich media applications; use of social media outlets; experience in higher education; knowledge of web content management systems. This is a full-time benefitted position, anticipated salary: $50,800, commensurate with education and experience.
