Carnegie Mellon University is looking for an experienced marketer to take the lead role of our web/digital marketing team. The primary role of this position: oversee CMU's digital and social strategy development and implementation, aligning them with business priorities across the university. Not only is this a strategist position, but the successful candidate will also be capable of envisioning, leading and implementing strategies and tactics from concept to execution. With a focus on building loyalty with alumni, students, prospective students, faculty, staff and friends, the successful candidate will drive a consistent customer experience across digital destinations, mobile marketing, video, social media and SEO/SEM.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

Education: BA/BS in a marketing, technology or related field.
Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in traditional and digital marketing; Minimum of 6 years of management experience. Demonstrable track record at project managing large scale interactive or other digital projects involving multiple stakeholders and internal / external parties. Experience building brand and storytelling on the web including creative direction and content strategy. Proven understanding of emerging platforms, online communities and industry trends to identify business opportunities; understanding of other digital marketing disciplines for integrated strategies (i.e. SEO, online advertising, social engagement); advanced knowledge of social platforms and tools for optimization. Proven experience developing social media strategies. Proven ability to translate business goals into actionable social strategies.
Skills: Technically competent, able to evaluate from a business perspective best-in-class web development tools and platforms and supervise both technical and non-technical project teams. Outstanding communication skills with a creative style to bring fresh ideas to the position. Possess superb organizational and analytical skills. Extremely detail-oriented with effective multi-tasking and time management skills. Proven ability to establish strong relationships at all levels of the organization. Self-motivated and ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion. Ability to identify, analyze, develop solutions and make decisions on complex or unique issues which address the university\'s business needs. Ability to adapt to changes in fast paced environment.
Physical Mobility: Must be able to travel frequently to on-and off-campus locations
Environmental Conditions: Exposed to all campus office environments and close contact with computer screen.
Mental: Must be able to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to deal with difficult situations, people, and frequent interruptions while maintaining composure.
Other: Weekend and evening work may be required

Preferred:

Education: Master's degree
Experience: At least 10 years of experience in social media/digital media/interactive marketing space a plus. Hands-on experience in integrated marketing communications preferred; strong background in marketing digital strategy, CRM and marketing measurement. Rich experience with social networks, social media tools and online communities; strong Twitter, blogging and Facebook skills. Experience using web analytics to guide decision-making. Some experience in issues management/crisis communication on web a plus.
Skills: Knowledge of user-centered design, SEO strategies. Some technical skills (HTML, graphic design basics) a plus, but not required. Some Google Analytics or other web analytics platform training a plus.
