full time Marketing Coordinator

In an integrated, fast-paced, and highly-collaborative environment, the Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day creation of compelling, marketing-driven content for the University Advancement Division, with a significant focus on alumni communication efforts. Primary responsibilities include developing and managing web-based communications (i.e. the Alumni & Friends website, as well as the Supporting JCU website), electronic newsletters, and other marketing materials designed to cultivate, maintain, and strengthen the ties of the JCU community to the University.

Create content designed to engage specific John Carroll community audiences (mainly alumni, donors, and students).

Develop new ways to strategically grow the Supporting JCU website and the Alumni & Friends website, including alumni chapter web pages for communication with (and service to) alumni in specific cities/regions, as well as the Legacy Giving component of the Supporting JCU web presence.

Serve as one of the IMC Department administrators on the central JCU Facebook page and other social networking sites, posting content geared toward the JCU community.

Oversee content and delivery of the new JCU quarterly alumni e-newsletter and the alumni board newsletter—and collaborate with colleagues to coordinate all email marketing/e-newsletter activities across University Advancement (including managing content for the Magis-related content and newsletters).

In concert with the Enrollment Division, help support the Alumni-in-Admission newsletter, a bi-annual email sent to student recruitment volunteers.

Assist the editor of John Carroll magazine with content associated with alumni (and advancement-related) stories and events.

Support the Manager of Special Events by coordinating signage and promotional materials for events (including presidential receptions, alumni gatherings, and fundraisers).

Enhance efforts to identify, track, and record alumni relationships and accomplishments. Work with academic departments and University offices to update and maintain a shared robust alumni contact database.

Support departmental and divisional goals through participation in University-wide events like Homecoming, Reunion Weekend, and Commencement.

A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent work experience is required. Candidate should have 1-3 years of experience and a track record of achieving content strategy and generation goals as well as meeting the expectations of internal partners.In addition to outstanding communication and team-building skills, candidate must have a solid understanding of the content creation and creative processes and be able to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines. Prior experience in a higher education environment is strongly preferred and specific experience with alumni and/or campus communications planning and execution is a strong plus. Familiarity with WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Photoshop), Wufoo/Gravity Forms, MailChimp, Banner, social networking, and similar programs is desired. The successful candidate must also maintain high professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information, and an appreciation for the Jesuit Catholic tradition and the mission of John Carroll University is critical. This is a full-time position, though some weekend work (mostly event-based) may be required. Embracing and being committed to diversity is expected.
