Assistant Director of Communications

Orange County Community College is located in Middletown, NY. We are approximately 60 miles North of NYC and 90 miles South of Albany.
FT - 12 month position
The Assistant Director of Communications will assist in communicating SUNY Orange’s message to internal and external audiences by implementing media relations, communications and visual identity plans as developed by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. This will include interaction with faculty, staff, administrators and students. Additional responsibilities include graphic design of selected College publications, such as catalogs, brochures, invitations and postcards; photography at College events; writing of press releases and other informational pieces. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, organizational time management skills, along with proven project management skills and the ability to work closely and creatively with a wide variety of College personnel. Evening and weekend work may be required.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, communications, mass communications, public relations or other related field. Two years experience in public relations or communications.
Preferred:
Master’s degree. Familiarity with SUNY Orange’s target media markets and experience with communication in a higher education setting. Bilingual skills.
