Title: Manager, Advancement Web Communications
Department: Advancement
Reports to: Director, Advancement Communications
Job Summary:
The individual in this role is the primary contact for Advancement’s (alumni relations and development) online presence. The Manager is the expert on the content, development, and functionality of the Advancement Web site including management of online content, alumni e-mail distribution, and alumni e-newsletter communications. He/she works closely with the Director of Advancement Communication as well as IT and the Web Project Director to manage and implement the department’s overall online communications strategy.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Serve as primary point-of-contact for all electronic Advancement Communications (i.e., Web site content, e-mail copy, graphic development, video, audio, and other e-content).
•Work with Director, Advancement Communications and Associate Vice President, Alumni Relations to manage editorial calendar for Advancement Web site.
•Frequently update content on Advancement Web site and facilitate changes requested by alumni staff; monitor content and functionality.
•Work closely with Alumni Relations team to manage and support social media and other “web 2.0” community-building and interactive applications.
•Work closely with IT to resolve technical issues as necessary.
•Build online registrations and forms for alumni activities and events.
•Administer Content Management System (CMS) and online community software; create and modify user accounts, approve content, and troubleshoot CMS problems.
•Oversee management and usage of media assets (images, video, audio, downloadable files) for brand management and optimized user experience.
•Track site traffic and activity to report monthly.
•Serve as primary contact for software vendor regarding system-wide updates, user issues, and any other needs that involve working directly with the vendor.
•Serve as project manager for development of new online content; work with writers, graphic designers, and client to achieve desired outcome in timely, organized fashion.
•Assist with writing and editing of Web and other online-friendly copy.
•Design and facilitate training of CMS users and expand training documentation; answer users' "how to" questions as needed (i.e., daily).
•Serve as editor of monthly alumni e-newsletter, Babson This Month, soliciting news from across campus, editing and posting content and multimedia, and tracking readership results. Also, serve as coordinator and distributor of monthly alumni events e-mail.
•Contribute to ongoing planning of enhancements for Advancement Web site and Babson’s overall web presence.
•Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Level of Education Required Bachelor’s Degree in communication, marketing, or a technical field
Minimum Level of Experience Required 3-5 years of relevant work experience; experience in the education industry a plus
Working Conditions N/A
Additional Required Skills and Abilities:
•Strong Web, print, and verbal writing and communication skills
•Excellent project management skills and attention to detail
•Experience using or administering an enterprise content management system
•Familiarity with use of social media for marketing purposes
•Understanding of usability and user-centered design
•Proficient in MS Office
•Working knowledge of HTML and basic Web design and production software (e.g., Dreamweaver)
•Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
•A keen interest in the latest developments in, and best practices for Web content
•Writing and editing background in promotional or marketing copy, video or audio production
•Advanced knowledge of Web design or development (HTML, CSS, XML, PHP, SQL)
