Tufts University’s Donor Relations office establishes donor-centered stewardship programs and consistent protocols across the university for acknowledging, recognizing, celebrating, and communicating with donors about the impact of their investment in Tufts University. Since each of Tufts schools have different constituencies, missions and methods, personalization of donor stewardship is highly encouraged and expected. Through its activities, Donor Relations builds and nurtures the universitys relationship with its donors.

Since this position is responsible for stewardship for the donors to the undergraduate and graduate programs within the School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering, he/she will work very closely with the school-based development teams, and with other development officers who maintain AS&E portfolios, as a partner in the fund raising program for the schools.

The Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations develops and manages a comprehensive donor recognition and stewardship program for undergraduate and graduate programs within the School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering. This program will support the overarching development agenda and help create a climate conducive to establishing and maintaining a tradition of giving, while also ensuring that both new and existing donors are more closely engaged in the lives of the schools. She/he will promote a consistent cycle of cultivation and recognition through researching the impact of specific donations and communicating that impact to donors with an expressed purpose to facilitate and encourage closer affinity between the donor and Tufts University.

The Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations creates and implements a master stewardship plan and schedule including coordinating and implementing acknowledgements, recognition, donor relations and stewardship programs, and events and activities for donors to Arts & Sciences and Engineering. He/she will identify and communicate impact and coordinate the financial and narrative reporting program to donors of endowed funds to facilitate closer affinity between the donors, their schools and Tufts University.

Basic Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree * Three to five (3-5) years experience in development, donor relations, alumni relations or a comparable or related field * Advanced knowledge of word processing, database management and spreadsheet applications * Must be a poised professional with experience in constituent relations, event planning, and program management along with a background of strong written and oral skills * Superior organizational, leadership, customer service orientation and exceptional interpersonal skills are required * Must be self motivated, proactive, strategic, highly organized professional capable of clear long and short-range planning and visionary thinking, diplomacy and a heightened sensitivity for special and/or difficult cases * Occasional travel is required

Preferred Qualifications: A background in marketing or communications is preferred. Background in higher education is a plus.
