Director of Web & New Media Production
at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL
Flagler College Department of College Relations invites applicants to apply for a full-time, 12 month position as Director of Web & New Media Production. The successful candidate will be responsible for management and strategic planning for Flagler College’s external Web site, (www.flagler.edu), the College portal (my.flagler.edu), as well as other auxiliary sites and new media platforms. This includes content, functionality, design, and architecture.
The director will lead the reorganization of College Web operations and a future redesign of Flagler’s Web site including: 1) Working with a Web consultant on developing a plan for reorganization and redesign; 2) Planning for a strong Admissions Web marketing presence combining online prospective student marketing with current print and DVD marketing campaigns, all under the control of the Office of Admissions; 3) Recommendations on improving Web operations and management, including campus-wide involvement in the Web; 4) Recommendations on new media options that can be incorporated into the Web site and college communications; 5) Development of a plan to better collect and measure Web site analytics.
The director will collaborate with all College administrative offices and academic departments concerning web design, development, content, and new media in order to ensure that the College is communicating effectively, accurately and in a timely manner. In addition, he or she will ensure that all of Flagler’s Web and new media marketing and messaging efforts are consistent with the College’s brand and visual identity.
The director must be able to work in a fast-paced and creative environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and embracing rapidly changing technologies. This position includes interaction with staff and faculty; must be able to assist and train on Web updating and maintenance, while working collaboratively with colleagues and under deadlines, while providing excellent service to all. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
The Director of Web & New Media Production will report to the Executive Director of College Relations; supervise a Web content manager and student interns; and manage an annual budget.
Three years of experience in Web site maintenance, development and design is required, preferably in but not limited to, the academic setting. Bachelor’s degree or sufficient combination of education and experience to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required. . The preferred candidate is expected to have a solid knowledge of computers and program applications, including knowledge of W3C and other Web compliancy standards; HTML, XHTML, CSS, ASP, ASP.Net and PHP; and a thorough knowledge of layout and desktop publishing; familiarity with computer hardware and software programs used in Web publishing and desktop publishing, including Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Advanced knowledge of Web development, Web site administration, new media, and social networking as well as a demonstrated ability in graphic design and the ability to write and edit for the Web.
