ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - Fletcher Development and Alumni Relations, The Fletcher School

The mission of Fletcher’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations is to serve The Fletcher School community by:
* Raising annual and capital funds to meet the Schools evolving and priority academic and institutional needs, and wisely stewarding current use and endowed gifts; * Creating and sustaining long-term, relevant relationships with the Schools approximately 7,200 worldwide alumni, plus friends, including supporting our 40 domestic and international alumni clubs and administering a world-class reunion program and international symposia in Europe; * Continuing to aggressively grow The Fletcher Fund as part of the recently launched comprehensive fundraising campaign “Beyond Boundaries” in which Fletcher’s goal is $100 million.The Associate Director will be responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of a portfolio of approximately 250 major and planned giving prospective donors (including individuals, corporations, and foundations) to The Fletcher School. She/he will work in tandem with the Acting Director to plan and execute the remainder of the School’s comprehensive campaign and other strategic initiatives and goals. He/she will work collaboratively with the Acting Director to develop and implement strategies for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospective donors and articulating the mission, priority needs and strategic vision of The Fletcher School.
The Associate Director will support the Fletcher Dean and Acting Director in various fundraising efforts and initiatives, including domestic and international trips, receptions, and other events. She/he will serve as primary liaison with Tufts University’s Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations, Office of Gift Planning and the Office of Prospect Research. He/she will also help prepare and execute the goals and objectives outlined in the Office’s annual operating plan, and with the Acting Director, work to maintain and advance the Office’s record of excellence and high performance.
Basic Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree * Five plus (5 +) years track record of major gift ($50K +) fundraising * Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint * Valid passport; driver’s license * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are essential * Must have demonstrated ability to manage and lead senior volunteers * Must have some experience in international business, affairs, etc. through work and/or having lived abroad * The ability to work independently and as a member of a team is criticalPreferred Qualifications: The following are all strongly preferred: Experience in higher education; an advanced degree; fluency in at least one language other than English; experience with Advance or similar complex database / information management system.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:Approximately 35% domestic and international travel is required. Some evening and weekend work required, including overnight travel.
