ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF EMPLOYER OUTREACH - Career Services

Tufts Career Services provides comprehensive career development assistance to undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni of the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering. We provide individual counseling, online resources, workshops, alumni and career panels, career fairs, and networking opportunities with alumni and employers. Career Services works closely with recruiters/employers to arrange information sessions, resume collections and interviews. Career Services utilizes online databases, recruiting software and job listing services to coordinate job and internship postings. Career Services seeks an Assistant Director to join the professional staff to head up outreach to potential employers of Tufts Arts and Sciences students and alumni, to coordinate our internship program and act as liaison to an internship consortium, and to manage the Career Services website and communications.
The Assistant Director of Employer Outreach will be responsible for initiating and managing corporate outreach designed to enhance relations with employers and alumni to increase full-time employment and internship opportunities for students and alumni. This person will conduct outreach to employers who reflect the interests and needs of Tufts student body, especially Arts and Sciences students. S/he will maintain relations with current employers as well as develop additional and diverse opportunities. This position will work closely with Career Services staff, especially the Employer Outreach staff consisting of the Recruiting Coordinator and Associate Director of Employer Outreach and Engineering Career Services. This Assistant Director will also manage the Career Services Website and Communications. S/he will initiate innovative approaches to using web technologies and identify optimal uses of technology within the office. This position will head up the Web Communications Team in Career Services and work closely with Career Services staff and Student Services IT staff. S/he will oversee social media and contribute to our overall marketing by developing newsletters and web communications for employers, alumni and students. S/he will assist in the overall operation of the office which includes: program development and outreach initiatives for students and alumni; employer/job development; faculty outreach; and marketing of offices services and programs to students, faculty and employers.
Basic Requirements: This position requires a Bachelors degree and at least 3 years of related experience. The selected candidate must possess strong technical skills in database management and be familiar with web-based recruiting software, client management systems, web-editing tools (i.e.front page, basic HTML), Microsoft Office including Excel, and online resources. S/he must have familiarity with social media such as Linkedin, facebook and blogs. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong customer focus, attention to detail and ability to deal with frequent interruptions is a must. The selected candidate must have the proven ability to work with a diverse population of employers, alumni, staff and students. S/he must possess strong project management, organizational, event planning and problem-solving skill and must have an understanding of job market and employer trends.
Preferred Qualifications: A Master's degree is preferred in Higher Ed, HR, or a related field. More than 3 years of experience in career services, business, human resources, higher education, or recruiting is also preferred.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Occasional evenings and weekends hours. This position requires travel to employer sites, off campus recruiting events in Boston, NYC, DC and other cities, and conferences as required. Access to a vehicle is needed.
