Web Programmer
at St. Mary's College of Maryland in Maryland
St. Mary's College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary's City is accepting resumes for the position of Web Programmer. The Web Programmer develops, supports, and administers Web-based software systems; serves as the back-up system administrator to the Associate Director of New Media during emergencies or scheduled vacation; acts as the primary developer of secure, reliable, and high-quality Web programming initiatives for the College; acts as project lead for some Web initiatives by managing timelines, deliverables, and producing project documentation; handles Web-related work order tickets; helps establish College and department standards of programming security and the data integrity for online services; and helps support and administer Web-based software and systems for the College.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and two (2) years’ professional work experience developing Web-based applications or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and excellent understanding and hands-on experience with back-end development, preferably in a higher education environment. Required programming skill set includes PHP, XML, XSLT, CSS, and JavaScript. Must have knowledge and experience in MySQL and relational databases. Familiarity with Perl and Apache preferred. High proficiency with cross-browser, cross-platform development and Section 508 compliance. Some experience with a content management system (CMS) preferred. Some server administration experience desired, preferably Linux and Macintosh OS X. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which provides the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Salary in the high $30’s, commensurate with knowledge and experience.
