full time PROJECT MANAGER - Web Communications

The Web Communications Department is committed to engaging people with the Tufts story through the web and emerging technologies. To that end, the department is responsible for creating and implementing the University's web strategy; maintaining internal and external electronic/online channels; and developing content, tools and services for Tufts.edu and related sites. The department is part of the University Relations division.



The Web Communications Project Manager works with the Director to oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of web technologies and services. S/he plans and manages internal and external projects, serves as the primary point of contact for clients and partners, and identifies opportunities to improve and extend the university's web presence.



The Project Manager’s role spans all aspects of a project from inception to completion, from initial brainstorming to final deployment and ongoing maintenance. Candidates must be adept at a wide range of activities: working with creative teams, developing technical specifications, managing content development schedules, implementing marketing components, and more. The Project Manager must be able to shift priorities within a dynamic environment and must be able to work alone or in teams.



The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in prioritizing and managing multiple projects, project forecasting and resource planning, and servicing multiple clients. S/he will have a history of consistently achieving long and short-term goals and developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, partners and vendors. S/he will have experience leading project teams with a range of technical and creative personnel including application developers, system administrators, art directors, designers, writers, editors, video producers and/or photographers. A demonstrated passion for learning about emerging technologies and communication channels is essential.



The Project Manager will be called upon to work outside normal business hours from time to time, including but not limited to special events, campus closing announcements, and activation of the Tufts Emergency Alert System.


Job Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar environment. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of industry trends and new growth areas within the web communications field are required. A working knowledge of Internet technologies and skills including HTML, CSS, information architecture, content management practices, web analytics, and usability testing is required.



Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in communications or web strategy and development; certificate or significant coursework in project management.
