full time COORDINATOR OF UNDERGRADUATE RETENTION PROGRAMS - Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Education

The Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Education seeks an individual with exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills to fill its available position of Coordinator of Undergraduate Retention Programs.

The Dean of Undergraduate Education is responsible for the education and intellectual development of undergraduates and must gain the support of the faculty to accomplish this. The Dean supervises the office of Undergraduate Education, which encompasses the administration of various programs serving Tufts undergraduates in their academic experiences: Academic Counseling and Advising, Programs Abroad, Academic Resource Center, and Pre-professional Counseling, among other things. The Dean also runs the university’s fellowship and scholarship program and works with the Deans of the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering in guiding and planning undergraduate curricular issues and general educational policies and programs in Arts and Sciences and Engineering.

The Coordinator of Undergraduate Retention Programs is responsible for serving the various retention programs in the university, including the CSEMS (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Science) Program, the Health Careers Fellows Program, the Introductory Science Support Program, the Learning with Style course, and the Access Student Advising Program. This position will work in consultation as needed with the Associate Deans of Undergraduate Education, the Academic Resource Center, Financial Aid, pre-professional program advisors, Health and Wellness Services, Admissions, and the Culture Center directors. The Coordinator will report to the Director of Advising with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Program Manager of the Center for STEM Diversity. Responsibilities include:

* Organizing events and planning sessions for these programs; * Providing assistance on program assessment, grant writing and compliance, and data collection; * Helping to connect students (both in the retention programs and outside them) with the resources that best meet their needs. While not a counselor, this person will have significant student contact.

Basic Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree * Minimum of one (1) year of related experience * Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with databases such as Access; familiarity with web applications * Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prioritize tasks; basic data analysis and statistical skills

Preferred Qualifications:A Master’s degree and more than one (1) year of related experience, including some experience in advising and serving undergraduates is highly preferred.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: Occasional evening and weekend programming responsibilities.
