full time Project Manager - Web Communications

The Web Communications Department seeks an individual with keen attention to detail, the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical team members, and the ability to conceptualize, articulate, design and execute strategic direction for the web to fill its available position of Project Manager. The Web Communications Department is responsible for creating and implementing the University's web strategy; maintaining internal and external electronic/online channels; and developing content, tools and services for use across the University's websites.

The Project Manager works with the Director to oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of web technologies and services. The position is responsible for overseeing project management and planning for the internal and external projects, serving as a primary point of contact for department clients and institutional partners, and identifying opportunities to improve the quality and effectiveness of the university's web presence. Specific responsibilities include:
Working with the Director to identify and coordinate internal and external resources to support department projects and initiatives;
Overseeing training, support and ongoing communication with clients of Web Communications applications and services;
Advising clients on using the web strategically and effectively;
Providing guidance in content development, information architecture, and web analytics;
Developing solid knowledge of tools and procedures for crisis communications. Executes procedures during drills, incidents and emergencies;
Conducting best practices research related to website development, web trends in higher education, and advances in new media;
Recommending ways to incorporate best practices into the department's operations.
In the absence of the Director, the Project Manager will make departmental decisions, attend meetings, and serve as the department's representative and liaison.

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field
Minimum of four (4) years of related experience
Candidates should have a proven track record of success in prioritizing and managing multiple projects, project forecasting and resource planning, and servicing multiple clients
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail; and a working knowledge of industry trends and new growth areas within the web communications field are required
Candidates must be able to conceptualize and articulate strategic direction for the web, consistently achieve long and short-term goals and develop/maintain strong working relationships with clients, partners and vendors
A working knowledge of Internet technologies and skills including HTML, CSS, information architecture, content management practices, web analytics, and usability testing is required
Preferred Qualifications: A Master's degree in communications or web strategy and development is preferred.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: The Project Manager may be called upon to work outside normal business hours from time to time, including but not limited to special events, campus closing announcements, and activation of the Tufts Emergency Alert System.
