Job Description:

The Director of Marketing and Communications is a member of the college’s cabinet, reporting directly to the president. The Director of Marketing and Communications works strategically with the college’s constituents to ensure an integrated, engaging and effective image.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the areas of public relations, publications, and web site development, including internal campus communications
  • Manages a team of five marketing professionals
  • Leads strategic image development and communications initiatives
  • Ensures the brand messaging of Saint Michael’s College is consistent across college communications and effectively tailored for relevant audiences
  • Oversees the college’s graphic identity program
  • Remains knowledgeable about relevant cutting edge communications techniques and technology
  • Identifies needs for market research, implements necessary studies and analyzes results
  • Oversees the creative development and placement of general college advertising
  • Develops strategy and execution for web site revisions, including content management systems, navigation, design and user testing
  • Works with the Admission, Institutional Advancement, and other campus offices to develop effective marketing and communication materials and strategies
  • Produces content for the College’s website and print and online publications
  • Handles all situations with excellent communication and diplomatic skills

Requirements:

  • Broad knowledge of all facets of higher education marketing and communications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • 5 years of professional experience in marketing and communications; experience in higher education preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of the latest web development, publications, e-communications, branding and market research techniques and practices
  • Experience in management and supervision
  • Familiarity and comfort in a highly collaborative work environment
