Associate Director of Web Programming
at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN
Valparaiso University, one of the nation's premier master's level universities, seeks an outstanding Associate Director of Web Programming.
The Associate Director of Web Programming supports the mission of Valparaiso University by helping develop and implement effective web strategies. The Associate Director demonstrates solid web development and programming skills with a focus on interaction and functionality. The Associate Director can analyze and offer solutions to a host of usability and user experience challenges and follow through with implementing them.
As part of the above, the Associate Director helps create, develop and manage university web sites with a focus on Enrollment and Advancement of Valparaiso University. The Associate Director works closely with individuals in the Office of Integrated Marketing and Communication, Information Technology, and other campus administrators.
Reporting Relationship
1. Reports to the Senior Director of Web & Electronic Communications in the Office of Integrated Marketing & Communications
2. Joins strong, three-person team in Web & Electronic Communications, including the Senior Director, the Associate Director of Web Design, and Associate Director of Web Development.
3. Works on cross-functional teams with other IMC staff on various projects.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Develop and program intuitive web site functionality and effective interaction, as well as assist in maintaining web sites for the university and its constituent colleges, departments, and offices.
2. Provide training and support to university web site managers working within the university content management system, with specific focus on web site/CMS functionality, interactivity, and usability.
3. Consult with IMC team members on projects related to web and electronic communication.
4. Understand, utilize and maintain concepts of standards-based web design, development, and programming.
Qualifications
1. A.A., or higher, in Web Design/Development/Programming, or related field.
2. Two to five years experience in web programming and development. Strong knowledge in variety of languages, such as XML, XSLT, PHP, JavaScript/AJAX, and ActionScript.
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively identify, troubleshoot, understand, and propose solutions for challenges in web development environment.
4. Experience in search engine optimization & marketing, email marketing, and social media marketing desired.
5. Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well alone, one-on-one, or as part of a larger team.
7. Proven ability to meet deadlines.
8. Willing and able to support the mission of Valparaiso University.
