WEB COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
The Mississippi College Office of Public Relations is seeking a full-time Web Communications Specialist to assist the Director of Web Communications in the management, development and expansion of the Mississippi College website and other online communication methods. This role reports directly to the Director of Web Communications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work as part of a team with the overall goal of utilizing Mississippi College’s online presence to its fullest potential
• Work closely with academic and administrative departments to create and manage web content
• Lead training sessions and provide technical support for content contributors across campus
• Create and manage content for Mississippi College social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo)
• Assist in design and development of sub-sites
• Monitor the site for ease of use and quality of presentation
• Assist in developing/enforcing web policies and procedures to maintain consistency, quality, and professionalism throughout Mississippi College’s online presence
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• A fast learner and problem solver with a passion to learn new and upcoming web trends and technologies
• Web design, development or website management experience
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Familiarity with PHP and MySQL
• Understanding of best practices regarding usability, accessibility, coding standards, and search engine optimization
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to the vision of Mississippi College
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proficiency with Mac OSX
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and jQuery
• Experience in using a content management system
• Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3
