JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is accountable for the technical implementation and support of Calvin's web presence, including application development, web content management system implementation, project management, technical consultation, and training of staff and faculty members.
1. Implement vendor-provided, open source, and custom web applications by researching functionality and security, conducting system testing, and developing support and maintenance procedures.
2. Coordinate implementation of web applications for many different business areas into a consistent, standard, and usable presentation.
3. Provide end user support by developing documentation, answering questions and facilitating efficient use of systems.
4. Lead project teams in the implementation of web technologies and solutions.
5. Research new web technologies, standards, and strategies to meet changing needs.
6. Develop software by collecting specifications, testing, documenting and training in an effort to provide useful applications and meet business needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provide work direction for 1-2 student programmers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university; one to three years experience in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include a familiarity with and passion for technologies of the World Wide Web, including but not limited to:
- Server-side development technologies (Java, PHP, Perl, Ruby On Rails)
- Web servers/application servers (Apache, Tomcat, IIS)
- Relational Databases (MySQL, SQL Server)
- Client-side technologies (JavaScript, D/X/HTML, CSS, Web browsers)
- Web best practices (accessibility, current trends)
