Associate Director for Online Communications
at Denison University (Anywhere)
Denison University’s newly revised position of associate director for online communications offers opportunities for creativity, strategy, and initiative as part of an award-winning communications team.
The associate director for online communications is charged with managing content development and dissemination to Denison’s audiences via static and dynamic Web pages, e-mail, RSS, streaming media and podcasts/vodcasts, as well as other emerging forms of communication.
The successful candidate for this position must have the vision to be an active contributor in the development of Denison’s integrated communications plan, with special emphasis on identifying and producing new directions in the college’s electronic communications platforms.
While the position requires certain technical skills, the ideal candidate will be, first and foremost, an innovative, achievement-oriented communications professional—with superior writing, speaking, visual, and strategic skills—who thrives in an energetic, team-based environment. Also required are advanced skills in the development of new media and in the organization of Web content. Proficiency in HTML, XML and CSS editing are necessary, as is the ability to work within and outside of the college’s Web content management system to post textual, graphic and multimedia content.
A bachelor’s degree is required, along with three to five years of experience in a communications, public relations or marketing setting. Competence with creative and collaborative tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat; Apple Final Cut and Logic; and other digital content development and delivery applications is preferred. Experience with Web quality testing for usability and cross-browser compatibility also is preferred.
