Position Function
The Administrative Computing Specialist is primarily responsible for the oversight of administrative computing, ensuring the college mission and vision are implemented within the confines of IT standards and operations.

Position Specifications
Required qualifications include:
Associate's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education.
Three years related experience
An equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered

Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix and server administration
Strong working knowledge of multivalue and relational database systems
Knowledge of Windows server and desktop operating systems
Knowledge of computer networks and networking
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion
Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems
Ability to work independently while supporting a team effort

Preferred qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field
Experience supporting the Datatel Colleague product
Prior experience in a higher education setting

Duties and Responsibilities
Within the scope of CWC policies and procedures, the Administrative Computing Specialist:
1. Acts as the server administrator for the Administrative Computing System (ACS) and provides support for this system by implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures; evaluating and advising on software and hardware uses, needs, and purchases; and ensuring data integrity through rigorous data backup
2. In consultation with the Senior Technician, this position installs, configures, documents and maintains server hardware and software configurations, including external applications that interface with the ACS and end user systems
3. Keeps current with the latest upgrades to and new products for the administrative computing system and systems that directly interface with it
4. Provides backup support to other IT staff as necessary
5. Coordinates voluntary leave with other IT staff to provide continuous technical support
