NYU’s core web team seeks a Web Developer for our both our non-CMS web and CMS-driven web (Day CQ, aka Adobe WEM) environments. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys building the back end of web sites, apps, widgets, and systems required to power NYU’s web properties.

Required experience and skills:

* Java-based frameworks in a Unix or Unix-like environments. * AJAX skills (e.g, XMLHttpRequest, JSON, and XML). * JSP and PHP (in a Unix or Unix-like environment). * LAMP environments. * Troubleshooting skills (e.g. code review, de-bugging, etc.). * Handling XML. * Strong Unix skills. * Technical leadership.

Desired experience and skills:

* JavaScript frameworks (e.g., jQuery and ExtJS). * Experience with a variety of Apache projects (e.g., Tomcat, Lucene or Solr, Felix, Sling, NoSQL databases like Apache Jackrabbit). * RSS/ATOM. * Using RESTful API’s. * Engaging with open source communities (e.g., seeking peer advice, finding documentation, offering support in-kind).

NYU will provide additional training specific to our CMS environment to the person we hire.

Additional requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree. * Several years professional experience. (This is not an entry-level job.) * Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. * Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
