full time Web Programmer

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is seeking a full-time Web Programmer. This position will report to the College’s manager of college IT services and will be responsible for the development, design, support and maintenance of the College’s Web site, both internal and public. Initial assignment will be to finish conversion of the College’s current static Web site to a content management based system. Candidates must have programming experience using eXtensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML), eXtensible Markup Language (XML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and jQuery. Experience using the Zope application framework and Plone content management system is highly desirable. Programming/scripting skills are required; Python and Coldfusion would be a plus along with experience in the design of relational database applications and web graphic design. The candidate must be able to undertake an “agile” or “iterative” approach to development. This individual will work closely with the University WebLion office (for Zope/Plone training and product development support); College administrative systems support staff (in maintaining and supporting web server hardware and system software); College Information Specialist/WebMaster (for content management and training department content editors) and the College Marketing and Public Relations Office (to create the proper public Web presence). Finally, the successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds, the ability to interpret analytical data, and maintain project schedules/deadlines. This job will be filled as baseline, intermediate, mid-level, depending upon the successful candidate’s education and experience. Minimum educational and work-related experience requirements are: Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree with additional experience preferred) in a related IT field supporting Web applications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
