The University at Buffalo (UB) is a large, public research university with over 28,000 students. UB currently has 13 schools offering 78 undergraduate degrees, 177 master’s degrees and 82 doctoral degrees. The Office of Web Services reports through the Office of the Provost and is responsible for sites directly related to recruitment, retention, and academic policies and services.
Job Title - Assistant Director of Web Services
Job Description
The Office of Web Services is responsible for the strategic planning, design, development, support and evaluation of Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and select Provost’s Office web sites. Web Services is currently responsible for 70 sites, many of them mission critical to the university including the Office of Admissions, the Student Response Center (Registrar, Bursar, and Financial Aid), Academic Advising, the Undergraduate Catalog, UB2020 Strategic Strengths, and the Office of the Provost.
Reporting directly to the Director of Web Services, this position will assist with the design and development of numerous university sites balancing technical proficiency with artistic and editorial creativity. For more information, visit http://webservices.buffalo.edu
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus three to five years of experience in complex web development, preferably in higher education. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Expert knowledge of HTML and CSS. Advanced knowledge of web design practices and techniques. Strong oral and written communication skills along with excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced graphic design and multimedia design skills. Advanced knowledge of Web application development, including PHP, PERL, ASP, etc. Strong knowledge of relevant software including image editing, graphic design, page layout, and web authoring. Experience with social media tools and their application in higher education Proficient with diverse computer operation systems including Windows, Mac OS and UNIX.
