Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering (COE) offers the resources of a major technological university and a location in the heart of cosmopolitan Atlanta. COE is the largest of the Institute’s six colleges, enrolling more than 60 percent of the students at Georgia Tech and about half of all tenured and tenure track faculty at the Institute. COE offers more than 50 different degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels through its main Atlanta campus and satellite campuses around the world.
The College’s engineering education programs offer a diverse student body and faculty committed to excellence in teaching and research. Georgia Tech's College of Engineering has a strong national and international reputation, and as one of the nation's largest engineering programs, consistently ranks high among the major producers of engineering degrees awarded to women and underrepresented minority students.
Position Description:
The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for day-to-day operations of the CoE website and electronic communications including design, structure and content presentation.
Develop, implement, track and evaluate digital communications and provide monthly reports that include website traffic data, social media data, and SEO analysis. Assist with long-term development of digital communications activities and projects for the College. Provide assistance with electronic publications for the College including e-newsletter, e-announcements, etc.
Interact with CoE school webmasters and Institute social media and web designers. Interact with outside vendors. Work closely with the COE Director of Communications on strategy and planning of digital communications.
Major Responsibilities to Include:
• Managing the College website
• Managing social media
• Using analytics, search engine optimization, benchmarking and tracking for analysis and planning
• Assist in development of e-newsletter, e-magazine, electronic notifications
• Handle video/photography including editing
• Other related duties/projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
• Must be familiar with Drupal, broad experience with content management systems. Prefer familiarity with CRM.
• Knowledge of web standards including HTML and CSS, familiarity with other protocols including PHP, XML, JavaScript.
• Current with key concepts, best practices and procedures in electronic communications including social media.
• Ability to implement and analyze metrics such as usability testing; experience with Google Analytics. Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr, Abode Creative Suite, editing systems, digital photography.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree and or equivalent combination of education and work experience is required
Experience:
• Three years of work related experience is required
Selection process will include a pre-employment background screening, which may include but is not limited to criminal history check, credit check, DMV check, drug screening and education/certification verification.
