Web Designer
at The University of Southern Mississippi (Anywhere)
The Web Designer works with other members of the University Communications staff to create effective web designs and web-optimized images; establishes and maintains web graphic standards that are consistent with overall University guidelines; and assists with the creative planning and direction of photos and graphics for the main University website. Salary range: $29,000-$33,000.
Duties and Responsibilities:
--Leads visual and design process for University's web presence. Must be comfortable working in a dynamic and interactive medium that takes into consideration proper site architecture, user interface, functionality, accessibility requirements, graphic standards and compatibility with the University content management system (Drupal).
--Leads interface design and visual art direction/selection for University home page and other top-level sites. Integrates photos and typography and optimizes images for the web.
--Ensures visual continuity and consistency of graphics and overall brand identify translate appropriately to a web platform.
Minimum Qualifications:
--Bachelor's degree and two years related experience and/or training in graphic design, or web design; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A working knowledge of HTML, CSS and Adobe software is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
--Familiarity with Javascript, Flash, content management systems, social media and search engine optimization is preferred.
