Assistant Director of Online Community Initiatives
at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in New York
The assistant director manages all alumni, alumnae and parent Online Community engagement programs, which include e-mail communications, event registrations, community membership management, online giving, and general site maintenance. The assistant director coordinates these initiatives using the iModules system, while working closely with Communications staff to ensure a comprehensive online program to serve and engage alumni, alumnae and parents. This individual is responsible for bringing the iModules system to full utilization so that the site will allow the Office of Institutional Advancement to significantly expand its online engagement efforts ensuring, among other things, better event attendance, increased annual fund participation, and enhanced data integrity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the creation and evaluation of Online Community site concepts, design or re-design
Ensures all information on the Online community site is current and accurate
Troubleshoots issues and works with iModules technical staff to ensure timely resolutions
Provides daily membership support (customer service) as the in-House contact for all things related to electronic social media, particularly iModules, including log-in assistance
Supports electronic push initiatives (e-mail marketing) and works with Communications staff to manage outgoing Institutional Advancement e-mail traffic
Develops and supports all event registration forms and event promotion via the Online Community
Designs and supports on-line giving initiatives via the Online Community
Designs and runs reports as needed
Maintains close working relationship with Information Technology Services and Communications staff to ensure compliance with online standards while maintaining consistent institutional vision and goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree with course work, training and/or work experience related to information systems, communications and marketing, digital media and web development. Must have an understanding and demonstrated competence in web-based technologies, including HTML. She/he has strong organizational, writing, and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting firm deadlines. Must have a keen understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse HWS constituency, and an ability to channel constituent engagement though electronic media. Curiosity, creativity and a sense of humor are also strongly preferred.
OTHER INFORMATION:
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours. Some evening and weekend work will be required. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
