Job Description:

Focuses on the design and development of Seattle Pacific University’s website as a public communications interface.
In consultation with the UC director, art director, web communications manager, and senior web designer, helps to implement the overall look and feel for the SPU website in priority areas of the site, and provide guidelines and templates for ensuring appropriate levels of visual branding consistency across remaining areas of the site.
Assists the UC web communications manager in overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of priority areas of the SPU website based on templates designed in a CMS. Among others, these priority areas include: Home page of the SPU site; Integrated micro-sites for external audiences, including prospective students, parents and families, alumni, and donors and prospective donors; Academic microsites; and Strategic events microsites.
Works with the UC director, art director, UC web communications manager, senior web designer, and CIS to establish design and technical quality standards for the SPU website, and administer those standards.
Collaborates with UC print designers and writers to ensure continuity of design and content for client marketing pieces and websites, and share creative ideas.
Acts as a point of collaboration between UC and CIS on web programming issues, when needed. Collaborates with CIS employees in order to share ideas, information, and tools for proper web maintenance and server processes.
Work is done in a fast-paced, creative office committed to excellent customer service.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in visual communication, multimedia, applied arts, communications, or related field.
At least two years experience in user interface web design and development, designing and developing multiple sites of varying complexity.
Understanding of branding, graphic design, information design, interface design, information architecture, and web site usability.
Experience in HTML/CSS, jQuery or equivalent Javascript library.
Knowledge or experience with a content management system (specifically, Sitecore) and web portals.
Proficiency with computer graphics tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks.
Proficiency in developing websites from wireframe to comps to functioning site.
Experience in designing and developing website prototypes.
Proficiency using InDesign, Bridge, RAW images, and photo management required.
Understand and have experience with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and blogs.
Experience within multiple operating environments.
Excellent skills in verbal and written communication, planning, problem-solving, organization, teamwork, and project management.
Preferred requirements include: Knowledge of email marketing and use of assorted email software/services (MailChimp, Campaign Monitor); ability to update and code HTML and CSS code; knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO); knowledge of online advertising strategies helpful (Google, Facebook); knowledge of video production.
