Web Developer

Columbus State University has an opening for a Web Developer in the Computer Information and Networking Services Department. This highly technical position requires a diverse set of skills, primarily in a networked computer environment utilizing web development. Responsibilities include planning, designing, developing, specifications and directing continual integration and upgrades to the Columbus State University web. This position will serve as a project leader working with other departments on campus in designing and assisting in the development and maintenance of their departmental web pages. This position will report to the Manager of Web Services and will at time supervise student assistants in the development and maintenance of web pages.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred; experience in a networked computer environment in conjunction with web development; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate requires knowledge of multiple programming languages (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) and system utilities (Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Flash) relating to web development in a Linux – Apache environment; requires knowledge of Web 2.0 Technologies; requires knowledge of Web accessibility and Web usability guidelines and practices; requires ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees; requires graphic artist talent with knowledge of how to use Adobe PhotoShops and Adobe Illustrator; supervisory and management skills and abilities preferred; project management skills preferred; and requires the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others. A successful criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment.
