full time Communications Coordinator, Alumni and Annual Giving Offices

at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina

This position reports to the Director of Annual Giving and the Director of Alumni and Parent Programs and is responsibile for, but not limited to the following major areas:

Web Management for the Alumni, Gift, Wofford on Call and TAGS pages
a. Produces content to enhance and maintain functionality
b. Creates, edits and updates content, photos and graphics to keep the pages relevant, interesting and dynamic
c. Identifies ways to use the web to enhance communication with constituents
d. Stays abreast of emerging technologies
e. Works with the staff of information technology and information management as needed

Mailshots
a. Writes and designs mailshots as requested
b. Pulls information from Banner database and distributes mailshots to appropriate groups
c. Tracks and analyzes email statistics

Social Media
a. Updates and monitors all social media outlets including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, and the Wofford Mobile App
b. Explores new ways of using social media to enhance alumni and donor relationships with the college

Writing and Proofreading
a. Researches and writes alumni or donor profiles for web or print communications
b. Proofs and edits all alumni and annual giving mailings and materials
c. Participates in the Wofford Today Editorial Board

Banner
a. Assists annual giving and alumni office staff in extracting data from Banner
b. Updates data in the Events module of the Banner database

Events
a. Assists with large on-campus events such as Homecoming, Family Weekend, 50th Reunion and the Easter Egg Hunt
b. Posts Wofford events on the Wofford e-calendar

Keeps abreast of best practices and procedures of peer institutions
Hires and supervises four to six student workers
Any other projects developed by the Director of Annual Giving, the Director of Alumni and Parents Programs, or the Director of Development

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required; the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse constituent group, other departments and other members of the development team; knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies and new media; digital photography and graphics editing and management; strong grammar, proofreading and editing skills; strong computer skills including MS Office, HTML, Adobe Photo Shop, Acrobat & Illustrator, content management systems and database knowledge; knowledge and/or experience in higher education, marketing or public relations preferred; flexibility to occasionally work nights and/or weekend events; strong and persuasive communication skills; superior organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and prioritize while paying attention to detail; ability to maintain an enthusiastic, positive and professional environment; must be able to exercise discretion and work independently; creative problem-solving abilities.
