Social Media Manager
at Davenport University in Grand Rapids-Fulton Street
The Social Media Manager is responsible for implementing, advancing and measuring internet communications and social media for the University. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University’s mission, vision and cultural values.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans and implements social media programs on behalf of the university and individual departments. Develops initiatives in social networking, video sharing, web communities and on other social media sites and technologies. Establish metrics and tracking of social media initiatives via search engine rankings and web analytics.
2. Implements and advises on email marketing campaigns tied to websites and social media campaigns.
3. Assists with new and ongoing website development projects by providing content and web traffic analysis as needed.
4. Stays abreast of trends in online communications and social media; plans launch-and-learn projects to test leading technologies and advises on the adoption of new social media practices across campus
5. Maintains department intranet information and documents.
6. Upholds all University brand and identity standards and follows all procedures to ensure University quality expectations are met.
7. Provides GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of customers.
8. Demonstrates and promotes University Cultural Values.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor\'s degree in journalism, new media, communications, English, marketing, graphic design or related field is required.
• Demonstrated three to five years of experience working with a range of web communications projects; experience with implementation of social media initiatives. Understanding of information architecture and website design best practices. Experience in the measurement and analysis of web traffic.
• Experience using social media tools including social networking sites, video sharing sites, blogs and wikis. Experience with social media in higher education recruitment, retention and development a plus.
• Have good facility with Web content, including writing for the web, video and audio editing and digital imagery. Competence with Dreamweaver or working directly with HTML and CSS. Experience working with design tools including Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash a plus.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
• Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.
• Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
