Information Specialist I (Web Designer/Developer)

The Office of Communications and Marketing of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is seeking an energetic, talented web designer/developer to join its Creative Communications Group (CCG).
The successful candidate will have 3+ years experience designing web sites and/or working as part of a communications team; will have a bachelor’s degree; will have very strong visual and informational design skills, will have a thorough familiarity with current and evolving web standards, emerging technology, social media, and accessibility requirements; will be comfortable working with a Unix/Linux server environment; will think both strategically and creatively; will be comfortable using industry standard software packages, and will be detail oriented in his/her work.
The ideal candidate will have experience implementing web content management systems from the ground up and will have one or more of the following additional skill sets: ability to write for the web; ability to perform basic video editing; experience with PHP and MySQL; experience with jQuery and Javascript; experience working in higher education communications and marketing. CCG provides strategic communications and marketing support for the university and its units.
This position works primarily with UT’s College of Law. As such, this person will play a vital role in helping the college to recruit the nation’s top students and faculty and promoting the college’s accomplishments. This person will work as part of a CCG team to ensure that both the university’s and the college’s messaging and branding are presented consistently across all media.
