full time Web Content Specialist

at Emmanuel College in Boston

The Department of Marketing Communications at Emmanuel College, Boston, seeks an innovative and creative full-time web content specialist with a demonstrated track record for engaging audiences through creative copy and integrated social media strategies.

The ideal candidate will be adept at creating original content in the forms of video, podcasts, photo essays, blogs and more. The candidate must also understand how to move diverse external and internal audiences from information-gathering to active engagement and action through web, video, e-mail and social media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, Flickr and emerging platforms.

Reporting to the Director of Web Communications, the Web Content Specialist’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Write, edit and proofread web content, e-mail copy and internal portal content.
• Assist in the creation of new pages, websites and portals, including new modes to aggregate social media and video feeds.
• Help launch new blogging platforms for faculty, staff and students.
• Expand social media strategy by better integrating existing and future platforms, and identify new ways to engage audiences.
• Create and manage content for Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, iTunesU, LinkedIn, Flickr, Foursquare, blogs and all other existing and future platforms.
• Create videos, podcasts, photo galleries and photo essays to further engage current and prospective students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community.
• Train new users on the use of the College’s Content Management System (CMS), as well as social media platforms.
• Monitor the College’s online reputation across social media and the web, and respond as needed.
• Work with entire Marketing Communications team to find new ways to integrate new media into the website, to create companion pieces to print collateral to enrich user experience.


Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in communications, journalism, design, film or new media preferred.
• Experience with HTML required. Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suites, Flash, After Effects, iMovie, Garageband, and/or CMS a plus.
• Exceptional communication skills, collegiality and sound judgment are critical as a “front-line” voice on the College’s website and within social media platforms.
• Experience developing engaging content, managing multiple social media platforms simultaneously, and navigating the diverse needs of distinct internal colleagues is required.
• Must be able to produce examples of written work, as well as video, animation and/or audio work.
