About
The Marketing & Communications office at Humboldt State University is seeking a web designer to be an integral part of our award-winning team of designers, writers and the campus photographer. We are highly collaborative, and the ability to communicate with clients about technical and creative issues is essential. As part of a small, versatile web team the web designer will contribute to campus wide web projects, as well as those for specific campus units.
Duties
Marketing & Communications is a fast-paced unit frequently working on multiple projects with tight deadlines. One week you might be working on a redesign of a department website while simultaneously iterating on the campus calender interface. The next week you find yourself creating HTML emails and a complementary micro-site for a student recruitment initiative. This is a great opportunity in a fun and rarely boring environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent to a degree in graphic design, fine arts or a related field and one year of professional web design experience. Professional experience may substitute for education.
Skills
- Portfolio demonstrating quality web design skills
- Can expertly hand-code HTML and CSS
- Solid cross-platform and cross-browser development experience
- Experience with Jquery & Javascript
- Bleeds Web Standards
- Knowledge of Section 508 Accessibility Standards
- CMS software packages
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate closely with team members

(Job #10-85) Web Designer (Graphic Designer I) $3,181-$4,774/month. Appointments are typically made at the beginning of the salary range. This is a full-time, benefited, 12-month temporary position in the Office of Marketing and Communications. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
