Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field and seven years of appropriate experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field and nine years of appropriate experience, preferably in a university setting.
Preferred Experience: The successful candidate should have significant experience in providing leadership in managing large complex Information Technology (IT) initiatives including the installation of enterprise information systems (such as PeopleSoft, SAP, or other comparable systems). Experience in the management of all IT functions including hardware, software, network infrastructure and services is preferred.
An in-depth knowledge of current practices in information technology leadership, strategic planning, budgeting, auditing, and vendor management is preferred.
Excellent oral and written language skills, demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments, excellent customer service skills, and supervisory experience are required.
Brief Description of Duties: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Administrative and Financial Services, the CIO will lead a process-driven services based information technology organization, and advise the President, Provost, vice presidents, and academic and administrative deans and department heads on all areas related to academic (instructional and research) and administrative computing, technology infrastructure, support and related services. The CIO is also expected to collaborate with and provide leadership to the University’s external stakeholders and audiences. The CIO will:
• Plan, organize and direct the daily activities and set “best practices” processes for IT;
• facilities;
• Formulate policies and establish priorities and standards for infrastructure design, hardware and software purchases and updates, lab protocol and support services;
• Oversee support and services for technical issues (hardware, software, network infrastructure, telecommunications and distance education);
• Manage, negotiate and execute installation procedures for all University licenses;
• Conduct regular assessment of the needs of users.
SALARY: The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
