"Writing Right for the Web" is a 2-webinar series that will help you get better at the art of writing right for the Web and teach you how to turn any campus web contributor into a good web writer. Despite the success of online videos and the ubiquity of photos on the Web, proper web writing is (or should be) central to any good web content. Whether they search the Web for information about your institution, look for something specific on your website or casually browse their news feed on social networking websites, good web copy will always give you a real advantage.

Tim Nekritz, Associate Director of Public Affairs at SUNY Oswego and Chief Content Editor of Oswego.edu, will explain why good web copy still matters in this age of YouTube, Flickr and Twitter. He will also share best practices in authoring great copy for websites, blogs, Facebook and Twitter make sure your messages reach your targeted audiences.

Web Writer Coaching 101: How to find, train, and nurture web contributors on campus
Mary Beth Kurilko, former Director of Web Communications at Temple University, will show you how distributive web content authorship can be the solution to all your institution’s web content issues. She will also share her 10-step plan to enroll, train and turn into great web contributors any of your campus administrative or academic writers.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Feel free to gather your team members around your computer or a larger campus group in front of a screen with an LCD projector.
- Audio is done via voice over IP. As a result, a phone line isn't necessary.
- Attending institutions get a 1-week free access to the recorded sessions of the series just after the live events as part of their registration.
- Webinar slides are available as PDF files prior to the sessions for easy note-taking.
- Access instructions will be sent to registered attendees along with the presentation files on May 4, 2009.
- In case a webinar needs to be rescheduled, it will be on the date listed a bove as its "rain date."

Tim Nekritz is the associate director of public affairs at SUNY Oswego and chief content editor of Oswego.edu. He has spearheaded the college's foray into social media, recruiting and supervising student bloggers plus creating and maintaining Oswego's official Facebook Fans page. As an adjunct professor of communication studies, he revamped the college's "Media Copywriting" course to include a Web writing component.

Mary Beth Kurilko is known on Twitter as “girlmeetsweb” and is an adjunct communications professor at Philadelphia University. From 2006-2009, she was the Director of Web Communications at Temple University in Philadelphia. As brand manager and editor-in-chief of Temple’s web presence, she provided web marketing and communications direction across the University
